Why I Ghostwrite

When my husband's grandmother passed away, his family asked him to deliver her eulogy, partly because he is the oldest of her seventeen grandchildren but also because he is an amiable, kind-hearted person who they expected would speak well about their family matriarch.
My husband desperately wanted to honor his grandmother by eloquently articulating her life and legacy. But as warm and tenderhearted as he is, he is no master of the English language. So he asked me to help. We set aside a few hours to work on the eulogy, starting with him simply telling me all the wonderful stories and memories of his grandmother - everything he thought made her unique. We also discussed what message he wanted to impart on those hearing his words. From there, I pieced the eulogy together. I centered it around his core message, incorporated his powerful stories and memories, and most importantly, I made sure it was written in my husband's own voice so it would "sound like him."
He delivered a powerful eulogy and throughout the reception was showered with praise for how well he spoke about his grandmother's life and legacy. All the while I smiled on. Neither of us felt a need to disclose the fact that I had technically written his speech because, while I chose and organized the words, it had been his message, his stories, and his achievement. The fulfillment he found in having successfully honored his grandmother was all the reward I needed.
That is when I became a ghostwriter. What I did for my husband is what I now do for my clients. I listen, I find the center of your message, and I craft your story to support it. I carefully use a style that reflects your voice because, in the end, it is your story, not mine. When we're finished, I simply sit back and bask in the satisfaction that I helped you successfully tell your story.

My Unique ValueWith 15 years of diverse experience in the corporate world, I bring a unique background to my client projects that most ghostwriters can not. Having worked in various industries and companies from a global defense contractor to a small software startup, with expertise in numerous functions such as organizational behavior, business development, program management, and professional services, I understand the world you live in and perhaps more importantly, I understand your audience. I know the lingo, the politics, and how your book fits into your broader objectives. This context allows me to ask the right questions, get to the center of your story, and build it in a powerful and effective way that will resonate with your readers.
Additionally, as a professional project manager, I pride myself on delivering an efficient, organized, and enjoyable experience which, in my opinion, is just as important as the final product - your book. |
